THE STORY BEHIND THE VOICE

His life changed at 15.
His story didn’t end there.

Born in Detroit, DeVante Henton was just 15 years old when he was shot in the head with an AK-47 assault rifle. He survived an ordeal that changed his life forever.

Today, he shares that experience with youth and adults to illuminate the human cost of gun violence—and the possibility of finding purpose after tragedy. He speaks openly about his faith, his recovery, and his belief that God has a plan for his life.

DeVante lives with a speech impediment, and he continues to use his voice to reach others. Through Saving Our Children, he brings his truth to communities with honesty, courage, and hope.
